Why Volunteer with Kaiser Permanente Northwest?

We believe that volunteering is a work of heart.

Our volunteers provide high quality experiences to our members and communities we serve. They give their time, talent, and personalities to make a meaningful impact for visitors and staff every day.

We believe in a healthy and engaged life for all.

Our volunteers make a weekly commitment in their role. Consistent, long-term volunteering has proven to increase happiness and decrease loneliness, deepen social networks, and lead to greater mental and physical health overall. Volunteers also gain experience, develop new skills, and teach others.

We believe in mind, body, and spirit.

Our volunteers are seen and heard as individuals and matched to meaningful roles that suit their interest and experience. We invite our volunteers to share about their experience, provide feedback, and bring their unique personalities into their role.

Kaiser Permanente’s Westside Hospital, Sunnyside Hospital, Hospice, and Clinic volunteer opportunities are available near you and we invite you to join our team. Each program has their own requirements and applicant process. Please review all the program details before applying.

Some common questions

  • Your application will be reviewed. If we are able to move forward, you will be invited to attend an interview. We also require a background check, health screen, on-boarding, and training. For High School students, we need signed parent permission forms and unofficial transcripts submitted prior to the interview. Depending on how quickly you can provide the information needed, this entire process can take approximately up to one month.

  • We understand that everyone has lives and other commitments. We will work with you to find a new schedule that suits your needs. However, we do ask for consistency for at least a period of three months in order to ensure you can meet the minimum program requirement.
