ADULT VOLUNTEERS

Kaiser Permanente values the commitment our community shows through our volunteers. We appreciate the adults who are either giving of their time because they have completed their professional careers or are looking for something meaningful to do with time they have open.  Some may just be looking for a moment of calm in their so busy schedule!

Volunteers make connections every day in our hospitals and provide the opportunity to serve others. Your life experiences make these connections important and relevant to our members. We need individuals who are caring and compassionate, who can show empathy and be helpful. You will be providing important services such as: assisting members to their appointments, assisting with wheelchair transports, nursing and office support, emergency department support, patient packet production, gift shop assistance (Westside only), and visiting with patients.

Some things we can provide for you in return for your compassionate service include meal allowances, special appreciation events, free access to the hospital work out fitness rooms and benefits provided by area businesses to our hospital staff.

We do ask for a consistent and weekly commitment in volunteering at the hospitals of 200 hours per year with the initial commitment being one year.  We have volunteers who have been with us for over 35 years and our volunteers range in age from 16-101. There is room for you and we are excited to receive your application, so we can help you become a Kaiser volunteer.

MINIMUM COMMITMENT REQUIREMENT

Our adult volunteer program requires a minimum commitment of 200 hours in 1 year on a weekly basis of at least four hours a week.

Step 3

BACKGROUND CHECK AND HEALTH SCREENING

Kaiser Permanente requires all volunteers to complete a health screening. If you are 18 or older, you must have a background check. This will be explained further during the interview process. This process can take 4-6 weeks depending on the workload of our counterparts who handle these.

Step 4

VOLUNTEER ON-BOARDING + TRAINING

As a new volunteer, you will participate in New Volunteer Orientation and training via Zoom. We will also schedule your volunteer assignments and conducting a hospital tour afterwards. All volunteers must agree to follow the hospital’s standards of behavior and COVID guidelines. On-going trainings are provided both in-person and online.
