Ham Radio Operator
When incidents happen in a Kaiser hospital, an Incident Command system is activated. The incident command system (ICS) utilized in an event of incident requires national, regional facility activation of the emergency operations plan.
An example of an incident is a fire, earthquake, flood, or other emergency issues. Incident Command is prepared to handle all aspects of managing and dealing with issues as it relates to our hospitals. Communication is critical to help reach staff, community, and our members. This role would operate radios between hospitals and emergency command centers (regional, state, and federal).
This unique volunteer role does not require a weekly commitment expectation. All Incident Command volunteers are expected to complete the following:
Required courses through FEMA.
Complete compliance courses provided by Volunteer Services.
Complete radio training through NW EOC.
Run through practice scenarios.
